Ministry Description: Marybeth offers spiritual companioning to individuals from diverse faith or non-religious backgrounds, listening in a supportive way for where truth, meaning and the Divine are emerging as well as exploring spiritual or creative practices (including art as a listening practice in spiritual direction, based on the interest of the individual). Marybeth draws from her experience working with young adults to facilitate workshops and retreats on Deepening your Spirituality through Creativity; Movement and Dance as Spiritual Practice; Meditation and Spiritual Reflection through the Arts; Spiritual Formation and Young Adults.
Background: Marybeth has offered spiritual guidance to university students since 1995 and currently companions university students through her work with Student Open Circles, where she facilitates safe spaces for students from diverse faith and non-religious backgrounds to explore deeper meaning in life, social justice, and service. She facilitates weekly reflection, mindfulness, and creativity circles, personal development courses, retreats, and leadership development. Marybeth is trained as a Spiritual Director through the Ontario Jubilee program and as an Expressive Arts Facilitator through Haliburton School of Art and Design. She deepens her journey through practices from diverse spiritual traditions, art, dreamwork, the Enneagram, body awareness, movement, and meditation. She is committed to working towards a world in which we value and care for each other, while living lightly on the earth. She loves people, painting, reading, and exploring Hamilton’s downtown and green spaces. Marybeth is available to meet in-person, by phone, or video.
